²⁵ So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day. He established statutes and ordinances for them in Shechem. ²⁶ Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God. He took a large stone and set it up there under the oak that is in the sanctuary of the Lord. ²⁷ Joshua said to all the people, “This stone will be a witness for us. It has heard all of the words that the Lord spoke to us. It will therefore be a witness for you, lest you deny your God.”
